I had it done at 8 weeks postpartum. It is a fairly easy procedure that was done in my ob's office. You have to use a back up form of bc for the 1st 6 weeks. Then have a dye test done to make sure your tubes are completely blocked. It also comes with a limited no fail warranty for the first year I believe.
This is as effective as the other bc methods with out having to remember to take a pill or dr visits for a new implant.
Thanks, I just hadn't really heard of it and it seems easier than my husband having a vasectomy I won't have to listen to the whining.
A friend of mine had it done for this reason. I thought about it, but I have a nickel sensitivity and was nervous about having a reaction. They claim it won't cause an issue, but it just hasn't been around long enough for me to feel confident.
I looked into it but decided against it. There were too many complaints about it (migraines, weight gain that cannot be lost, pain, the nickel sensitivity), and so many ladies that want it out and only 2 doctors in GA have been able to successfully remove it without having to do a full hysterectomy (the only way to remove it currently).
Lots of people who have it love it and have no problems but I tend to react to anything and already suffer from migraines and didn't want to chance something else adding to it.
DH and I just discussed it again last night and I decided against it just simply because it involves putting something in and leaving it there and that makes me uncomfortable. DH will have a vasectomy instead.

Glad you were able to come to a decision and he's the one that will be uncomfortable for a couple days and not you.
DH and I read all the literature about it because that was our plan to have be get it done. In the end he said he would get a vasectomy because it would be an easier procedure.

Hope this helps some.

I posted the web site above (just in case).
I can only speak from personal experience but it was pretty painless, some mild cramping afterwards which is normal and no complications.
Good luck with what ever you method you choose. I know this is a very personal choice and you need to make the one that is right for you.
