Trouble TTC

PCOS and Temping

My temps are all over the place! It's so frustrating, my previous NP RE said don't bother to temp cuz it will drive you nuts. I was like...meh! I had mc last month and I'm prepaired for my cycles to be even more crazy.

Any other ladies with PCOS still having issues with temps being like up and down? I currently not on meds. Previously clomid 100mg and same thing. Meeting with actual RE and hoping she has some ideas. Maybe more meds to make me O. I am doing temping and OPK. Ugh such a bad day today :(

Re: PCOS and Temping

  • I know the feeling!  I have PCOS as well.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss.  GL for the future!

You can check out my charts (hopefully as long as I did it right) and I'm sure they will look very similar to yours.  I will continue temping because it really helps me know when I O'd.  My dr put me on metformin after the PCOS dx because my cycles were 60+ days.  I had one that was like 85 days or something insane.  I was constantly thinking I was pregnant (this was before OPKs and temping).  But my temps are always all over the place.  I have just learned what is normal for me.  For me, it isn't abnormal to see .4-.6 rises/drops in temps all the time.  Using OPKs helps me out as well.  I just have learned to read my graphs.  But as long as you are taking your temps at a normal time (which I know you aren't new to this), I wouldn't let it bug you.  You aren't alone!

  • I don't have PCOS, but a lot of the women on the bump with PCOS temp because it confirms ovulation.  I would imagine that it would be extremely frustrating to have irregular cycles and always wonder if you've ovulated yet.

As far as temping during a medicated cycle, most women don't do it.  Meds can mess up your temp and there is really no need to temp if you are being properly monitored by ultrasound and bloodwork.
