Luvs brand diapers vs. Pampers

I just saw a post about Target brand diapers and I was curious about this.

I used Pampers with my DS and was told that I should try Luvs to save some money with my next LO.  Any STMs have experience with Luvs?  The savings would certainly add up if we did use Luvs.  TIA!

We use Pampers most all of the time.  I have tried Luvs, but they don't hold as much as Pampers IMO.  We didn't have problems with leaks, but DS couldn't wear them overnight.

For a newborn/younger baby my personal preference is pampers. They are softer and have nice features such as a line down the front that changes color when they pee. For an older baby, I would try a small pack of each and see which one works better. I never had an absorbency issue with luvs but they feel very plastic and sound like it as well when my son is walking around. When the luvs are getting a little full they feel wet/cool on the outside (even though they arent) while the pampers just feel full. Each baby is so different I just suggest getting small packs and finding what works.

I was wondering the same thing. I use Luvs for my son and never have a problem. Although when he was a newborn I stuck with pampers because things like huggies gave him rashes.

I used Luvs with DD1 and DD2 and really liked them. The price was right and never had an issue with leaks (like Huggies). That was a while ago, though.  The girls are 10 & 15 now so things may have changed.  I'll probably try a few and see what works best for us this time.

I tried LUVS and hated them. I had issues with leaks. I really like the swaddlers and the cruisers pampers. I think the cruisers are very forgiving with a lot of motion and they get a good fit as well. I never had a single leak with them. I also tried Huggies they just were not my favorite IMO.

I'm another Pampers user. We always had good luck with them and I just never felt like trying something else.

I'm a pampers mom but LUVS is made by pampers and very similar. With DD we used LUVS during the day and Pampers at night. LUVS just didn't hold as much as pampers to consistently make it through the night but we never had a daytime leak. I use swaddlers in newborn sizes and then switched to LUVS. We did still use pampers when we had coupons making them cheaper.

I have a boy, and we prefer LUVS over all others.  I've always hated Pampers, they always leaked for us.  I liked Huggies for NB and size 1, but from size 2 and on LUVS have always fit LO best and provided the best leak protection.

I've heard Luvs are very scented, and the moms with babies my DS' age said they hated them.  A number of them preferred the Target brand, or just stuck with Pampers.  Odd, since Luvs and Pampers are made by the same company. 

We used Pampers with DS, so that's what I'll try for this LO (another boy), and give the Target diapers a go again, too.

I totally agree with all if this.  Luvs definitely hold much less than Pampers and were useless overnight unless we changed them half-way through the night. I also had issues with them leaking out the legs during the day when my twins started getting mobile. If you're really looking to cut costs, I actually had much better luck during the day with the Safeway generic diapers then I ever did with Luvs.

This. I never minded Luvs. They worked pretty well for us. This baby is going to be a Target/Luvs diapers baby.

This! With my first we got a lot of different brand diapers during our shower so we got to try a lot out. I ended up donating all but the pampers. They just fit my boys better & held up better. Target brand seemed to work pretty good when my youngest got a little older. We had major leaking problems with LUV's & Walmart brand. I was also a little leery about LUV's as one of my son's cousin's had serious allergic reactions to this brand.

I liked Luvs never had a leaking problem except at night but all ofy kids are stomach sleepers and sleep for 12 plus hours and pee through every night even with overnight diapers. UNTIL my then 15 month old who never had a rash prior when I used pampers ended up with a horrible rash from Luvs. None of my kids can wear them. And I know a few other parents who have the same problem. My 3rd can't wear any disposable except organic so we mainly use cloth.

we CD but I used Luvs on a long road vacation that my mom refused to let me take a diaper pail with us on. lol I loved them. I've used Pampers Swaddlers also and those were great for NB stage but pretty unnecessary $ wise for later when Luvs held up just find.
