Adoption

APG - May 3, 2013

Happy Friday to all!  How has your week been?

Welcome to The Bump's Adoption Prayer Group!  We are a group who believes that prayer is the backbone to any person, season, or situation in life.  If you would like to join the email prayer group and be connected with a prayer buddy, or if you have any requests that you do not feel comfortable stating below, please email me at kirsdances@yahoo.com

We welcome ANYONE to this group and firmly believe that we should "not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication and with thanksgiving, let our requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." -Philippians 4:6-7

We'll give people the opportunity to share:

1.  Encouraging Scripture
2.  Prayer requests
3.  Write out a prayer for the other ladies on The Bump
4.  GTKY Question of the Week:  Describe the moment/time when you officially decided to pursue adoption.

It is my hope that this group will be an encouragement and inspiration to each of you as we sojourn on this adoption road together!  Be blessed today!

I'm a dance studio owner, writer, cat mommy, and adventuress who is married to the man of her dreams. My husband and I have had a long-time dream to adopt and it's happening in a way that we didn't quite anticipate. But, like any move of God, it's turning out way better than we expected. We'd love for you to follow our story at www.kirstenkline.com!

  • 1.  Encouraging Scripture
Tear your hearts, not just your clothes, and return to the Lord your God. For He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, rich in faithful love, and He relents from sending disaster.  -Joel 2:13

    2.  Prayer requests
So many people have been asking how they can partner with my husband and I on our adoption process that we decided to have a Dessert Fundraiser Event tonight!  We are really excited--a local church is donating the space to us, some local bakeries are donating food, the dance team from my studio is performing, and we just pray that it is an amazing night where people can be refreshed and encouraged while hearing about our adoption process.  Please pray that the Lord's will would be done in this!

    3.  Write out a prayer for the other ladies on The Bump
Father to the fatherless, we are so thankful that You ARE gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and rich in love.  Lord, it is not Your desire that any should be orphans, and I pray that You would specifically minister to the ladies on this forum this week--wherever they are at on their journey.  Make paths straight as only You can do.  Bring peace as only You can do.  And, as each of us takes the necessary steps forward, I pray that You would show us in new and fresh ways how You are our Abba.  Amen.

    4.  GTKY Question of the Week:  Describe the moment/time when you officially decided to pursue adoption.
Adoption has always been on my heart, and my husby and I talked about it when we were dating as well.  It was always something we had in mind for "after" or "someday."  But then we realized that we didn't want our adopted child to have the last place in our family, we wanted him/her to have the first place.  So, we started checking out foster to adopt information in January 2012 and realized that it wasn't for us.  We continued to pray and do research and talk to friends who've adopted, and God started to reveal His call on our hearts for Uganda.  We started researching and praying further and then, in December 2012, we had a moment where everything seemed to come together.  God said, "Now is the time" and our hearts were ready as well.  We realized it was our calling to change the life of a child and the rest is unfolding as history... • I am totally new to this group, so please bare with me.

1: I was really moved by the verse in the OP.  I struggle a lot with anxiety as we continue through the many twists and turns this process has taken us.  Reading Philippians 4:6-7 today was just the blessing and spiritual booster I needed.

2: We are currently waiting for a referral for one child from Ghana, but have recently been offered the opportunity to adopt a sibling trio from another African country who are very similar in age to our biological kids.  Please pray for God to make His will abundantly clear and that He will calm the anxiety in my heart over parenting (and starting up homeschooling) with 6 little ones instead of 3 or 4.  Also, please pray that if this adoption is God's will for our family that the process (including some significant fundraising) will go smoothly and quickly so we can bring our kids home.

3:  Lord, please bring Your peace to rest on the hearts and minds of the women in this group.  Smooth their paths, Lord, and allow them to rest in the knowledge of Your deep and abiding love for them.  Amen.

4: Adoption (especially international) has always been part of our "plan," but we had not ironed out exactly when we would being.  Shortly after the birth of our third daughter, DH and I felt the call to go ahead and begin the process knowing that it takes a long time.  God really lead our hearts toward Africa, though which country wasn't so specific.
