Missing 2 pills?

I don't know enough about b/c - which I know, is terrible.  I missed 2 pills in a row...had unprotected sex both nights, and am within the 10 day "fertile" period.

Does just missing 2 pills give me any chance on being pregnant?  I don't feel ANY symptoms, but H is freaking out.  Guess I can just see if I get my cycle here in a few days! :)

Re: Missing 2 pills?

  • Yes it does leave a chance of getting pregnant, missing even one pill leaves that chance, however I honestly don't think it's a huge chance.  I would definitely be more careful though if H is that worried about you getting pregnant.

  • You don't have a 10 day fertile window. You ovulate on one day and at best you can get pregnant from sex 48 hours before or after that day.

That being said, missing two pills back to back could certainly cause you to ovulate this giving you a chance at being pregnant. But Taking Charge of Your Fertility and learn more about how your body works. Then your husband won't have to be "freaking out".
Also, if you don't want to be pregnant, take your birth control more regularly or look into other methods.

  • Yes, it does give you a chance of getting pregnant.  I missed one and called my OBGYN.  She told me that for the rest of the BC pack, my DH and I needed to use a condom.  I guess missing only 1 can mess things up, so I think missing 2 would be the same.

    GL to you.

  • Thanks ladies!  In regards to this "fertile window" I just have an app on my phone that gives me an appx 10 days so just basing it on that.

Okay. First, why do you have an app if you're on the pill? Second, those apps are cr@p. Every person's body is different. Every person's cycle can be different from one month to the next. If you want to know your "fertile" window (and you're not taking a BC that prevents you from ovulating)... you need to chart. Read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Go to FertilityFriend.com. Sign up. Read. Learn.

This plus, you don't have a "fertile" window when you are on birth control because it prevents ovulation.  The key to preventing ovulation is having the right amount of hormones in your system all the time, if you miss a few pills it messes up your hormone level and you could potentially ovulated.  You should use a back up method the rest of this cycle.
