Experience with PBK quilts?

I'm trying to decide between two choices at PBK for my sons big boy bed. One is a duvet cover, the other is a quilt. My question is, how heavy is the quilt?  Is it warm enough for winter use or would I need a duvet anyway?  I notice that they usually put a quilt together with a duvet- do people really use both?

My 3-year-old has a PB teen quilt (I'm guessing they're pretty much the same) on her full bed and we've never put a duvet with it.  I guess it would depend on how cool you let your house get at night.  I think we set our heater to 67 at night in the winter.

They probably just want you to buy more.  :)

  • I don't have PBK. However, just wanted to say that I couldn't get our old duvets on our "grown up" bed to not always look messy. Maybe it was just me, but they were always lumpy looking and not all smooth and pretty like in the catalog. It was kind of a PITA for me to get the comforter out and wash the covers. I've found that the quilts/bedspreads are much easier to have look neat.

  • My DD has a toddler PBK quilt on her bed and I find it is the perfect temperature. We only use that and its not too heavy or too light. It fits the bed perfectly and is so easy to spread out. On colder nights I put her in a fleece pajama and hotter nights I put her in a light cotton PJ. I really like it for her age and would recommend!
