Sorry if there is already a post on this somewhere
My husband and I are not ttc til winter but I made the decision to get off the pill now since I have irregular periods and I want time to allow my body to get over the effects of the pill and learn to chart my cycles
My question is what side effects to expect and how long it took other people to get their periods after the pill.
I've been off the pill a month now, I think on cycle day 33, before going on the pill years ago my cycles were 33-40 days long, never the same each time. I've been cramping on and off for a few days now so I think it might be coming soon. I haven't noticed any crazy side effects except my nipples are suddenly sensitive, I can't stand them to be touched, but no breast tenderness. Never had nipple sensitivity before but I'm assuming its my hormones getting over the fact that I'm not on the pill anymore.
Any other ladies want to share their experience getting off the pill?
Re: Getting off the pill
I got a lot of random cramping, too. Headaches, fatigue, grouchiness, nausea...all these random symptoms that only seemed to correlate to not being on the pill anymore. My cycles had always been longer too at around 30-32 days, so I was very hit or miss on which day I was going to start there for a while, so be sure to expect a little bit of irregularity while you're body gets used to not being regulated anymore.
That's all I can really think of. Hope this helps!

I've read that sometimes when you get off the pill, your body needs time to regulate the hormones and it can delay your next AF.
I've just gotten off the pill (as in 7 days ago, Wednesday) and Sunday I began to have some spotting. It's lingered through today (Wednesday), as if it were the lightest period known to man. But I've also read that is normal in reaction to stopping the synthetic hormones. Haven't noticed any other odd symptoms yet.
What I am trying to remind myself as I head into the next few months is sometimes as your body gets back into its natural rhythm, you can have hormone surges that cause pregnancy-like symptoms! I don't need any false hope just yet...
Good luck!
