So I had been feeling pretty good about my post-preg weight loss. I'm a few pounds heavier than I would like, but didn't want to stress since I'm still breastfeeding. My body shape has definitely changed and today I realized how much. My work is doing a fitness challenge and I have 35% body fat! I'm now really motivated to get into shape and not just lose pounds, but wanted to know if anyone else is in the same boat and if maybe this higher percentage is normal for a breastfeeding woman. The Googles did not help me figure this out.
Omg I've been dreading getting mine measured. I was in ridiculous shape pre pregnancy and had body fat 14 to 18. I know I've lost soooo much muscle and am nowhere near that anymore. You're brave and an inspiration to me to get measured!
Your body does hold on to fat when breastfeeding so there is an adequate amount of fat in the milk. I've read that once you stop BF, your body sheds the fat in about a month (FX that this is true!)
When I stopped bfing ds1 no fat was "falling off" at any point. I had to DIET and count calories and exercise. Yuck, yuck yuck. I found it easier to lose this time while still bfing - I just counted calories but I got bonus 400 for bfing, so it made it easy to stay under my daily total. I calulated calories to lose 0.5 lbs a week.
I have no desire to find this out, especially before O turns one. At this point I'd rather just feel good about myself for eating better and losing weight.
My BMI was 19 3 months PP...but I'm squishy and need to lose about 15 pounds.
Same here! My bmi is 19.3 and I'm 5 pounds less than when I got pregnant. But, my body shape was way different and a whole lot squishier. There's no way I wanna know my body fat
