Cloth Diapering

Overnight help please

I started CDing for my 9mon old around 2 mon ago. I used my last overnight Huggie last night. He's a big boy and needed a 5 in an overnight or he would leak.

I have CB and flips w the organic PF and the stay dry inserts. I also have the flip and CB disposable inserts. That's what I've got to use.

What do you think the best combo is to keep him dry at night? He's pretty big at 31in and 24lbs and the CBs don't have much in the way of extra room, so I'm thinking that the flip w some combo of inserts will work best.

Please help :]

Re: Overnight help please

  • I'd try a prefold with a stay dry insert on top in a Flip. If more than that will fit without gaps, add a third.

  • I think pocket diapers work better as daytime diapers.  My DS is only 5 mo but I can use a prefold and a Thirsties doubler with a Flip cover overnight.  Maybe you could try one of your organic inserts and one stay dry with the Flip cover?

  • Thanks ladies! I was thinking the PF and stay dry combo was what I should do, but I wasn't sure which should be on top. I won't lie, I'm irrationally nervous about starting cloth overnight

That's the combo that worked for us until I bought some hemp to use as doublers. And don't be scared! If you've got a waterproof mattress cover, worst case scenario is you'll have to do a little extra laundry before you get it figured out, so jump on in there!

Fleece pajamas help to keep things dry too.

You could always try using just the fleece bottoms and then a regular t-shirt. Fleece really does help keep my DS from waking up from wetness if he leaks a little bit.
