Trouble TTC

Afraid of serious problem

Hi everyone. So a quick background I have 7 yr old twins and had my Iud remover a year ago last march so my husband and I could start ttc. We have tried everything under the sun but period still has come every month. This time my period wasn't supposed to start til the 4th of may. The 24th of April I started spotting all day and the next day. I got really excited. Ten days before my period and just light spotting, only one thing that could mean. Part way into the next day it started getting heavier and heavier just like a normal period. It never did get as heavy as mine usually are. And by Sunday it was just spotting again. But Tuesday morning I woke upand out of no where started bleeding heavy again. Again no where near as heavy as a normal period but enough to need a tampon. Very worried because this puts me at day number 7 of bleeding. I haven't had a single normal sign of my period either cramping bloating tender breasts I have take tests and they say negative. Any ideas????

You can't know when to expect your period unless you know when you ovulated.

It means you had mid cycle spotting.

7 days of bleeding + negative HPTs = not pregnant in my book

If you haven't yet, I recommend charting your BBT.  It will help you pinpoint O which helps you to know if your sex was timed correctly.  It also gives you info such as the length of your LP.

Also since you have been trying over a year, you could look into seeing a RE about IF testing, if you are ready for that step.  Personally I would chart a few months before starting testing.  You may find out that you haven't had the best timing this last year.

ETA:  Welcome and GL I hope your stay here is a short one!

Doesn't sound like a serious problem...It sounds like a freak cycle for someone who is normally clockwork.  Unless you are charting your BBT, or had monitoring done by a doctor, you don't know if you just ovulated earlier than normal so your period isn't "late" then.  And while no camping, bloating, tender breast, etc. - it could be because your early ovulation this cycle was a weak egg and didn't release much progesterone...thus lack of period side effects.

Since you have been trying for a year, you can look into infertility testing.  But it sounds like first you can to start charting BBT and CM so that you can time sex as best you can, and learn your body a little better.   For this cycle...you are on cd7.  While seven days of spotting and bleeding can be slightly unusual, I'd not worry about anything being "abnormal" if the spotting tapers off to nothing in the next day or two.

  • Everyone else already gave really great suggestions and advice. Just wanted to chime in that every now and then I have a 7-8 day period, while mine is usually 5 or so.  It is not all that abnormal to have a wonky cycle from time to time. I would really try not to worry about it. GL!
