Trouble TTC

XP: Saline u/s results :(

I posted this on TTCAL and wondered if any of you ladies might have experience with this here.

I had my saline u/s this morning and wasn't sure what to expect. It didn't hurt as much as I expected, although I did take 800 mg ibuprofen about an hour before. He found a polyp on the anterior wall of my uterus. Ugh! He said it's possibly a cause for why it took over a year to get pregnant for the first time. He also found a cyst on my right ovary, but I forgot to ask the size. It's not bothering me at least.

Now, I have to wait for my insurance to approve the surgery so it can be removed. I have to go back on BC while I'm waiting for the surgery to be scheduled.

I'm disappointed that we have to push off TTC even longer for this. Does anyone else have experience with uterine polyps? I did a little research and am so confused about why this would happen because I have none of the risk factors. I guess it's just one of those weird things that happen.

Re: XP: Saline u/s results :(

  • I'm sorry- that is very frustrating. I don't personally have experience with either, but a friend of mine learned she had a polyp during a saline US prior to one of her IVF cycles. She said it was a very routine procedure to have it removed. She also didn't have any risk factors for polyps and hadn't had them on any prior imaging.

Another friend had polyps removed, although not for TTC purposes. She also said it was very straightforward and not a bad recovery.

Thank you, that's good to know. I'm glad it's just an outpatient procedure

  • Thanks, ladies. I was hoping that nothing would be found and I could be cleared to TTC. It sounds like the recovery time isn't too bad at least.
