Me! So for a couple weeks now DS has been more fussy than not. I thought it was the 12 week growth spurt and the fact that he kept taking 30-40 minute power naps all day.So he's eating this morning and I realize that he's been drinking four ounce bottles since he was 6 weeks old. Well, he's 13 weeks now. That's almost double his age when he started drinking 4 ozs. So I made him a five ounce bottle today instead, and wouldn't you know, he ate the whole thing and barely spit any back up. It occurred to me that maybe he wasn't having a terrible growth spurt at all. Maybe he was just still hungry. ALL THE TIME. Which is also probably why his naps took a dive. Man, do I feel like an idiot, and not to mention a terrible mother for letting her kid go hungry for who knows how long.
Re: Today's "I'm a bad mother" post is brought to you by...
Don't feel bad, I let mine sit in a poopy diaper for about 30 minutes today because I forgot she pooped! It was the third poop of the day, and I actually would not have remembered if my DH wouldn't have picked her up and noticed the smell. Worst part is, she was sitting in my lap the whole time!
This! My DS lost 2 lbs from his birth weight at his two week check-up b/c I had absolutely no idea I wasn't producing enough BM. And by enough I mean barely any!! When I started pumping I was getting maybe an ounce a day. I'd never been around babies before and just assumed they were supposed to scream their head off. LOL. Now I just pay attention to his cues and if he seems hungry after finishing his bottle I give him another ounce to see what he'll do.
