I have never measured DS's food. I just give him a few pieces. If he gobbles them all up, I give him more. If he eats it all, but takes his time on the last few bites, I offer one more piece. He usually throws it on the ground, squishes it up, or swipes across his tray if he's done.
I also never spoonfed DS, though, so he's always been in control of how much he eats when. Even if he only has a few bites and he's done, it's no big deal. I don't stress about it.
