I know we have a few on here. I didn't start with DS until he was 4 months old so all I have are one-size. I wasn't wild about trying to use them on an itty bitty so I bought a NB stash off a friend. I bought 25 kissaluv 0s and 3 covers. Do you think that's sufficient? It's been so long since I had a newborn I have no idea how many diapers a day she'll go through! I am planning to wash every other day like I did with DS.
Re: CD moms?
As for covers. we have about 10 NB covers. That's because we use PF and don't snappi, so poop gets on the cover a lot. If we used snappis, we could probably get away with 5 or 6 covers.
I'd definitely get a few more covers. Proraps are super cheap and functional. Plus, they have the cord cut out in the NB size.
Thanks! I actually have 5 covers. 3 I bought from her and 2 I bought new. I'll look into picking up a few more diapers.
I had 24 diapers and 5 covers for DD. I could have operated with less covers. I feel like I would have wanted at least 4 though. 24 diapers was sufficient as long as I washed early on the 2nd day.

We used the GMD workhorses and I really liked them. Easy to use, easy to clean and absorbent. It would have been nice to have a couple AIOs for the diaper bag, but it wasn't a big deal not to have them since it was only a few weeks before she fit into our one size diapers.

Pinstripes and Polka Dots has a lot of FAQ type stuff on their site. The cloth diaper board here has a FAQ type thing as well.
And it's A LOT of info so I (and I'm sure the other cloth mamas) would be happy to answer any questions to have. I have a lot of random CD knowledge that I've gleaned over the last 3 years and I'm always happy to pass it on

Totally worth it. My stash cost $400 and since they lasted until DS was a almost 3, it was a huge savings so it was worth it all around.
Agreed. I don't know what my stash cost, as I've bought and resold stuff a bunch of times. But, the PFs we have have been used by both kiddos. And they will be used by LO3 when he/she arrives later this fall. The ones we bought as seconds definitely show wear (okay, some are bad). But it's been 3 years of lots of use...and they were a great deal.
If chemicals bother you, definitely look into natural fibers like bamboo. My favorite PF are Dandelion Bamboo prefolds. They are super absorbent and trim for a PF. We love Sweet Pea Diaper covers for one size covers, with Blueberry coveralls a close second. (They are really similar covers. They Sweet Pea are cheaper and holding up just as well, so they get the number one spot.)
Agreed.
Although I'm cheap so cost savings was pretty much tied with chemicals on my baby's butt for number one spot. I hate the wastefulness of disposables.
Even if you don't use natural fibers they still have less chemicals than a regular disposable diaper. Really, it's about the bleaching process. Natural fibers are going to be unbleached. The stay-dry stuff is all man-made and the materials are bleached. But yeah, there are plenty of choices in natural fibers. Considering cost isn't an issue you may want to look into all-in-one options. They're available in natural fibers and are really simple to use. I prefer pockets, but I don't really mind the man-made materials.
