We just found out way early because I had the maternity 21 test, due to my AMA status err umm, oldness, hehe. I'm only 13 weeks. But we are over the moon! A little girl. Yay!

We had the Verifi test last week and I'm waiting (not so patiently) for the results. They said that they would tell us the sex if we wanted to know, but I'm not sure if I want to find out over the phone or wait til our 18 week ultrasound...
Is it standard for them to test gender with your nh blood work?
No, it's not standard. They cannot tell you what the sex of the baby is just by the standard b/w at NT scan. Unless you request the Maternity21 or Verifi b/w test, and pay for it (because insurance doesn't typically cover it).
Some insurances will cover maternity 21 or verify tests depending on circumstances. My AMA was enough for my insirance to cover some of the test, I still pay a percentage. And both of these tests separate the fetal DNA out of the mother's sample and can test for genetic trisomies plus they can test for gender.
