NBR - Bridal Shower Gift ?

I have an upcoming bridal shower and have no idea what to give as a gift!

We've been friends for over 20 years, but have grown apart A LOT in the last ten, so I'm not sure what I could do that would be very personal, and I will only know a few people at the event (an afternoon tea at a posh hotel restaurant), so I don't want to get anything too racy...

Ideas??

TIA!

Is she registered?  If yes, get her something from the registry.

Otherwise, a gift card to maybe B, B and Beyond?

Her registry was mentioned on the invitation for the bridal shower, but it is the wedding registry... I don't think she is separately registered for herself / for the bridal shower.

Isn't a wedding registry and a bridal shower registry one in the same?

The fact that the registry was ment on the bridal shower invite would mean to me that she wants something from her registry.

Again, I guess this could be regional.  I am in NY.  We do gifts from the registry for the shower and a cash gift for the wedding.

I always buy off of the wedding registry for the bridal shower.  I just make sure to budget appropriately since I'll still buy a wedding gift.

OK, this is what confused me! I couldn't figure out why it was mentioned on the bridal shower invite when everything on the registry was really wedding presents... maybe because the bridal shower is in CA and the wedding will be in NY? So some of the people coming to the bridal shower wont be making it to the wedding at all?

Anyway... There isn't anything there that I'd want to get for her (for either event - the few things I think would be really nice and personal enough are way too expensive...)

The spa gift idea sounds great! Maybe I can find a coast-to-coast chain that is really nice.

I buy from the registry too.  Flameful-if I have to buy you a bridal shower gift you are getting less wedding gift money from me. I have a budget for the entire wedding gift and stick to it usually $200. I'll spend $50 on a gift and $150 cash for the actual wedding present.

A bridal shower really isn't about personal gifts, especially if you're not close to this person. It's about pots and pans, kitchen gadgets, and bedding. Seriously don't over think it. If she registered for it, it means she'll appreciate it.

    100% agree with this

thritto this; get something off the registry.  Find something less expensive; worst cse, get her a gift card to wherever the registry is.

Wow, Im really surprised! Truthfully Ive only ever been to my sister's bridal shower because I was living abroad for nearly a decade and we did things differently there...

    Thanks for the info!

The registry is for all wedding events. I have never heard of a wedding registry and a bridal shower registry. Being registered at more than one place is common, so I usually do one gift from each if I am going to a shower as well.

For anyone other than my closest friends, I do wedding registry.  I usually try to stick to a theme, but using registry gifts.  For example, my favorite is to get the wine glasses, accessories or wine chiller from the registry with a nice bottle of wine.  That way you're doing the registry gifts, but making it a little more personal.

ETA: just remembered another favorite I saw, can't take credit for it!  But someone gave my cousin a cute 'beach tote' for their honeymoon.  It was a nice personalized canvas bag, new beach towels, the mrs & mrs flip flops, just cute beach related things.  Another option if they're going on a beachy honeymoon, or do the beach often.

This. For this event I bet she'd like the blender she registered for more than a spa gift card.
