WDYT? It was my late fathers name, he passed away when I was a child but I'm not dead set on using it. Has anyone met a Kingsley before? Did he go by the nn King? I can't imagine it on a baby/child and maybe it is better suited as mn material.
I think it would be great in a middle name spot. It's a nice solid name (albeit, more a surname), and would have a great sentiment.
As far as a first name... I can kind of like it. I do actually see it on a baby, child, and adult. However, the nn King... I don't like that and can't picture it on anyone... maybe reason enough to use it only as a middle name. Do know if your father went by King as a nn?
I really love the significance, but I'm not sure I would use it as a FN, and I am pretty much a fan of using surname-y sounding names as FNs if they have family significance. I wouldn't side-eye it as a FN, though. One thing I wanted to point out is that Kinley/Kinsley as a girl name gets asked about a lot on here, which is close enough to Kingsley that people might here Kinsley and think girl.

Kingston is a GP name of mine. Kingsley reminds me of the Kinsley/Kinley trend that I hate on girls. I like the honor aspect so I would put it in the MN or go with something like Kingston and get the honoring that way.
This, exactly. I like Kingston for a FN, or Kingsley for a MN.

Yes he did go by King but obviously I only knew him when he was an adult, I can't imagine it on a child just yet.
My first thought is Sir Ben. I also knew someone with this LN. Was this a surname in your family that was used as a FN for your father?
I prefer using family surnames in the MN spot. I would not want to use the NN King.
No I don't know where the name came from, my grandmothers says she just liked it. Her other son is Kristen (seriously) and one of her daughters is Leander (goes by Lea). I don't want to try to be unique like she managed!
