Pink! Which I hate saying a color, but we decided to have an elective u/s and found out we're having a little girl. Our a/s isn't until after I return from a work trip in about 3 weeks. We are definitely excited, but I will admit to having a real moment of panic. First, I thought that I might be pregnant with a boy, but I had his moment of panic because all too often I see mother and daughter relationships that are so strained and difficult. I just don't want to repeat a multigenerational issue within my family. Which of course S assured me I'm nothing like my mother in this way and that I've broken many other cycles that our family created. Of course I'm very excited, but I found my initial reaction kind of surprising. I hope i'm not being too confessional. We actually decided to tell no one the sex for a few reasons, but I did decide to secret share it wih you all to enjoy the excitement that we do have with this group. We went out and bought her a white elephant for her room. We both really loved them as children and find them be amazing creatures, so I thought it was perfect for her. And now we're planning the most amazing nursery for our little girl. I'm over my initial anxiety and now looking forward to raising a capable, responsible, and caring young woman. I almost posted this on the pregnancy check in, but I figured not everyone read that, so I'm sharing the news here. Anyhow, I'll continue to keep you updated. In related news, my mom screened my calls this weekend, and when she finally answered told me she was not available for at least two weeks to get together for no good reason, so I've decided to move forward telling my dad in person since he does pick up my calls, calling my sister, and telling my mom when she decides that she would like to see or talk to me. I'm not holding her spot to find out first in this messed up family anymore.
