I like the name Ethan, and I don't mind the initials as a nn.

I'm married to a T.J., who at 30 still goes by that (mostly because he isn't a fan of his real name, Tyrone James). There is another manager in my workgroup who goes by A.J. also (fn Aaron). So I disagree with the thought process that he automatically won't want to go by that nn when older. Even if he chooses to not go by E.J. Ethan is a nice name on its own.

I like it a lot. I've always like Joshua. The initials aren't wonderful but that doesn't really matter that much.

Love both names! Ethan is at the top of our list right now for a first name too.

I know two men in their 30s who go by T.J. so I don't think it's a childhood-only nn
