Anyone getting shin splints while walking (for exercise)?? It starts the second I start walking and lasts pretty much through out the whole walk! Could it be the protruding belly? No idea why that would cause it?!

I've had shin splints many times from running (though luckily none during pregnancy!). Seriously, your only prayer to fight them is daily icing and stretching. The one that always worked best for me was to do runner's stance against a wall with one leg back as though you were going to stretch your calf, but then push your knee forward and down- you'll feel it for sure! Good luck, shin splints are NO FUN.
My bet would be on your shoes as the culprit. Have you bought new ones recently? They typically only last about 300 miles which sounds like a lot but not if you wear them all of the time. I am a runner and i switched last year to minimalist shoes with no problems but now that ive gained weight in my belly i had to switch back to a stability model as it apparently changed my stride and mechanics. Hope this helps!
