Does your kid know their name? As in, can they say their own name? Do they use it to talk about themselves? This was the first week I'd ever heard Nate refer to himself as Nate. I wonder if that's a milestone of some sort?
Jared has known his name for a while now but for the last 2 weeks he will correct you if you call him Jared. His name is "super Jared" :mobile eye roll:
Married my best friend 01/01/09
BFP#1 05/06/10. Jarebear born 12/29/10.
BFP#2 06/22/12 (DH's birthday). EDD 02/23/13. M/C and D&C 08/09/12
I think Oliver started using his name around 20 months. Mostly just when people would ask him his name. He'd say his first middle and last name all smooshed together.
Yes, C definitely knows he name, but almost always refers to himself as "Chrishy" which is what we call him. DC actually thought he just couldn't say his real name, but he can. Come to think of it though, I don't think he remembers his last name and I'm certain he has no clue what his middle name is!
Yes, G knows her name, and we're working on her last name. Interestingly, she calls herself Gracie, and I wonder if that's her preference or if that's what they call her at care. I should ask.
J knows his first and last names and has for a few months. I called him by his first and middle name the other day and he corrected me. He said, "I not Jackson Daniel, I Jackson Lastname".
I mentioned it in the other post but Griff will respond if you call him Griffin. But when you ask him "whats your name" he'll say "baby." I've maybe heard him say his name once or twice.
Yes, she knows her first, middle, and last name and refers to herself by name and will answer "whats your name?". Today she actually referred to herself as "hazel basil". It made me smile because that's what all the grownups she knows call her.
When she was younger she would call herself "baby hazel". Literally every time she talked about herself or if you asked her her name. She doesn't do that anymore, so I guess she's decided she's a big girl. She sees her baby pics and still says they're "baby hazel".
J could say everyone's name except his own for a while... not just easy names like Matt or Eric, but Nathaniel, Christian and Nain. Then about 2 weeks ago he pointed to himself and said his name. We'd been trying to get him to say it for a while and finally it must have clicked because now we can't get him to stop.
Awe, this cracked me up! Here I am all amazed and your kids know middle and last names too! N has had a huge language explosion this past week - thank God for speech services!!
Not if I ask What is your name, but if he sees a picture of himself or himself in a mirror, he says, That's Zaza. So kind of? I don't think we really practice the "what's your name" question a lot, so I guess we have to get on that.
I've got a late talker, and she hasn't been able to say her name (Victoria). About a week ago, I told her that she can say that her name is "Tori" in hopes that she may start using it and she picked it up right away. Now she does say "Tori" when asked her name, but she definitely responds to Victoria.
Yes, he knows his first, middle and last. I used to have this little routine of question for him: what's your name? Middle name? Last name? How old are you? Where do you live? Etc.
Sometimes he likes to say "Sodor" when I ask him where he lives. LOL
Funny you should ask because C has been using her name for like 6 months now but will only talk in 3rd person. Apparently, at her daycare evaluation this was the only thing she didn't score well on (using I or me instead of her name). We've been working on getting her to say "I" instead. Oh well, it will come in time.
He responds to it, but doesn't say it. We have a bit of a speech delay, though.
Yep. We are your speech delay buddies here. This past week he's really started talking a lot more though! I can't wait until he's saying full phrases and sentences!! It would really cut down on the drama (with a capital D) I think. I was so excited when he pointed to a picture of himself and said "Nate!"

Evan told us he lived there too the other day. Prior to that if you asked him where he lived he'd answer happily ever after.
Ahahaha look at my post about names. Alexander does the exact same thing! All these kids want to live on the Island of Sodor!
I just saw that post. When we went to see Thomas the train the other day Evan was convinced that he was on Sodor and is insisting that we go back to visit. Silly kiddos....
Jericho can say something that sounds like "ericho" and he will say something is "ericho's" and point out himself in pictures and use his name to do so.
Xander, Hayden & Lily 5 1/2 and Jericho 3 My Blog!
Ari talks in the third person and identifies himself in pictures as "Awi" but if you ask him his name he will just stare at you. He also will random say "Awi Meeyell" which is supposed to be Ari Miguel. It's a huge step up from him only grunting or screeching at us a few months ago.

Hmmm will have to work on middle and last name.

Brody knows his name (sometimes) and I love the way he says it (Bro-deeeee).
If you say what's your name, he can say it sometimes and other times he doesn't.
My little man at 0-1-2
