Babies on the Brain

I need help with names..

I'm in love with the name Emmalynn KeriAnne, but a lot of people are saying it's too long.. I've loved Emmalynn forever, and KeriAnne would be after my sisters, Keri and Ashley Anne.. What do you think?

Also, what other names would you suggest? Oh, and what boy names could I use as well?

Thanks so much!

  • There is a name board. Try posting there too. This board is pretty slow.

I say use one or the other, but not both. Neither are my style. They sound made up.

  • Personally I wouldn't ask other people because 1. it's your child 2.they are going to talk you out of what you want. if you don't know if that is what you want then just be open minded. I think it's cute tho.

i'm not pregnant yet just been TTC. I have a few names in mind but no boy names besides Mason i love that name.

  • Way to long.   One or the other not, both.

Honestly though, I am not a fan of any of it .

  • I think it's pretty. Yes, it's long but no one goes by both their names most of the time. I am a teacher and most of the kids that have have been to school together since kindergarten have no idea what their peers' MN are.
I think it's sweet and your sisters will love it.

  • That is pretty long. When I think of baby names, I say it out loud a million times, think about nicknames that could go with it, or how easily it will be for my LO to write out. My mom named my little sister Tehya Litahni Gubitosi, that poor child had that hardest time learning how to write out her name.

  • I like your mn association. I knew a few girls in college named Carrie Anne though. One was kerryann.

I would suggest Emma kerianne or combine and do keiran as a middle name. I really don't like smoosh names like emmalynn sorry.
  • Hey! Emmalyn is our girl name too (if and when we have one)! Her full name will be Emmalyn Marie LN, and I love the flow of that. I agree that Emmalynn KeriAnne is way too much.

I have no idea as for boy names for you. On the baby name board, if you give people what you kind of like (like if you like biblical names, or oldie names, etc) they can give you a list that goes with that "theme" of names.

    Good Luck!

  • Another point of view to consider, is HR. Once she is old enough and shops her resume around, what will the hiring manager think?

  • I think it's pretty.
Here's the thing, I've shared my names with some people and have got some really awful responses. My "favorite"? "You're going to name you're son Giovanni? Ewww that's an horrible disgusting name! Why would you do that to your child?"

We're still going to name our son Giovanni whenever we have a boy. We love the name and the reasons behind it and that's enough. The same with our girl names. We love them and they have special meaning to us so I don't really care what other people have to say about it. And chances are once you name your baby, people generally have the decency to keep it to themselves. I don't necessarily love some of the names my friends have chosen, but they do. It's their decision and not mine and their kids are wonderful either way.

So, if you love the names go for it! Don't let other people dictate such a special privilege. It's your privilege, not theirs.
  • Emmalynn isn't really a "smoosh" name I don't think, it's actually pretty oldfashioned. tho usually spelled Emmaline or something like that. anyway I love long names, my kids are gonna hate me lol. I think you shouldn't worry what other people think about it, unless it's a dirty nickname or something. but my DH thinks every name I like sounds like a stripper name, so there's really just no pleasing some people!
