Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Amount of Formula: 7 Months

LO has always been a big eater until she turned six months. Her pediatrician said she should be getting 30 to 32 oz. of formula a day on top of her two or three meals We occasionally have a day where she eats that much, but her new "normal" is between 24 and 27 oz. Anyone know if I should be concerned? She doesn't act hungry and she refuses to take anymore bottles, so there's really no way I could get more in her.

Also, she's been waking up once a night to eat now. She STTN until six months (transitioned to her crib). It's the only thing that works to get her back to sleep. I'm thinking she is honestly hungry, because she's dropped her intake of formula so much. But a lot of times, even that extra bottle at night will not even get her to the amount her pediatrician says she needs.

Any thoughts?

Re: Amount of Formula: 7 Months

  • Our pedi told us that LO should be getting 24 oz a day at least (he was getting 35-40 a day) so we added another meal and that took care of it. Maybe you're feeding her too much solids? Maybe try taking away one solid meal or feed her less at her meals.

  • My kid is a pretty enthusiastic eater, so his intake is probably on the high end of the range, close to 40oz. most days. It fluxuates though, and some days he will barely do 30oz. We don't do alot of solids though, only 1 or 2 servings a day and some days we skip it completely.
