Ok! So I am all about trying new things with my hair because i have so much of it. I have super think, coarse, down midway my back hair and i really want to suprise my honey with my natural curls made , well curlier. Do perms not take as often as people say? I have went threw plenty of blogs and they all say its fine to do as long as its in an open room. So my only question is do they take? ( I'm bout 9 weeks pregnant nd my hormones dont seem to be to off)
Re: Perms
I'm sorry, but your hair is DEAD. It has no blood supply (no hormones) in the part you perm. You hair does not know you are pregnant. (or that you cut it, hair does not grow faster if you cut it, again it is dead). Your scalp is alive, and so our your hair follicles, from where your hair is growing from. You could be a lot more sensitive to an allergic reaction to chemicals (hair colour, perm etc) which is one of the reasons it is not recommended. Another reason is that there has not been much research done on what is safe while pregnant, because it would be very hard to find volunteers!
If you main concern was if it would "take" I would get some recommendations, and go to a salon for a free consultation. They would be able to take a test piece of hair, and see how the perm would work on your hair. Good luck!
