XP: Cradle Cap?

LO had a scaly forehead so I assumed it was cradle cap and used a cradle cap shampoo to get rid of it. Most of the scales are gone but there are still reddish bumps/rash looking on his forehead where the scales were. Is this normal? Should I call the pedi? Continue using the shampoo? TIA ladies!

Does you LO have the red bumps anywhere else? My LO had a nasty case of cradle cap. When we finally got it cleared up I thought it came back again. Turns out the flakes this time were from eczema. It also caused flaky skin and red bumps.

He only has the red bumps on his head/forehead.

is it possible he had a reaction to the shampoo? or maybe you brushed to hard to get the scales off? how long after you used the shampoo did the bumps appear

Probably no need to call pedi. Sounds exactly like DDs. I alternate using hydrocortisone and aquaphor on her head and it clears it up in a day or two. We were clear for a few weeks and I thought it was gone, but it just came back again.

This happened to DS and I did go to the pedi. She said the rash was from cradle cap. Clear up cradle cap, rash goes away.

If it does not, you are probably dealing with eczema -- which is what I think we are now dealing with.

Head still flakes a littel - I use baby oil or olive oil prior to bathtime.

For face, I use a little bit of aquaphor.

I used some cold-pressed coconut oil with DD's cradle cap as I found when I used baby oil it got worse.  In two days it almost disappeared! The best part was that she smelled like coconut
