Has anyone taken this? I was prescribed it last night and it made me HORRIBLY tired. Then, this morning I woke up with spotting again after I haven't had any in a while, as well as my cramping has come back intensely (only this time some of it's in my back).. I know they two can be completely unrelated, but it was just a weird coincidence..
My questions are: Has anyone used it? Does it work? Can it cause miscarriage of birth defects? Or is there any other nausea medicine that's safe (and preferably non-drowsy) that I can suggest to my doctor?
Thanks!

I'm using it for insomnia with my drs approval, and its one of the safest things you can use. It's the first thing they prescribe for morning sickness in the uk. There's no evidence to show a link between taking promethazine and miscarriage or birth defect. Don't feel guilty about it. If heaven forbid something goes wrong then it's unlikely to be the drug.
My midwife prescribed Ondansetron last week for nausea and vomiting. I'm not sure if that's a generic form of the one you were prescribed. This one makes me really tired as well, but it has helped me keep some food down. I avoid taking it as much as possible because I don't feel right taking medications... but I think I'm a little paranoid. As long as the person who prescribed the medication for you knew that you were pregnant, I'm sure the benefits greatly outweigh any risks. I hope you feel better soon and I hope everything is okay!
Yesterday, we finally had a nice day here in Mpls, MN so I spent almost the whole day outside and I had a great day with minimal nausea. I think the fresh air and change of scenery really helped me.
Phenergan makes me sooo tired, but Zofran never helps me when I'm sick. I haven't taken any meds for nausea because I have an aversion to medicine unless I can't stand it otherwise. I have been using Sea Bands that I got from CVS and they have worked for my nausea so far.
Zofran is milder and typically does not make people tired. Phenergen or Promethazine is stronger and will make you sleepy. I take one for daytime and one a night. My nausea and vomiting has been horrible. I cannot function without meds. It's bad.

Promethazine = phenergan
The best proven nausea tx is B6unisom, but it can make you sleepy as well.
Try taking B6 vitamins you can get them over the counter and ask your doc about Zofran. Small meals throughout the day and lots of water.
