Re: GVSU running

  • Race is tomorrow! I'll do an update then, provided I don't collapse. :

That race you're doing looks awesome! I've always wanted to do one, they seem so hardcore. You'd better take before and after run pics... and then post 'em here, in all your muddy glory.

  • Oh man! I have a terrible memory! Good luck tomorrow! When you run can you listen to music? Does your H go and cheer you on?

Of course I will share photos! We have a team name that is fun AND my husband is having fun "training" me! This morning he kicked my butt! I am nervous for the barbed wire and fire!!

  • Race went good! The first 5 miles were slow, but the pack thinned out which was helpful. No PR for me, actually 5 minutes slower, but I got a Tiffany necklace as a finisher's medal, so I'm happy.

I always run with one ear bud in, but I only partially pay attn. to it. I use Nike Plus, so i like the audio cues. They had a lot of entertainment on the course, like bands and dancing so my music was not necessary. I also like to eavesdrop on other runners' conversations. /insert ashamed emoticon/.

H didn't come today. He had a hockey game last night that didn't start until 10:45 pm, so he was wiped. He and J did drop me off and pick me up though.

Are you training with Bo Baby in a stroller? I need to start doing that. I feel like it would really help my speed on solo runs.

Have fun with the fire, mud pools, barbed wire, and climbing walls! Seriously sounds like so much fun!

  • Also, I'm dying to know your team name! Spill, woman!

  • And/plus/also, the finishers necklaces were presented to each runner on a silver platter by a hot dude in a tux. Nike knows what they're doing!

  • Woo! Congratulations! That sounds like a blast with all of the entertainment! One more race down to put in your books!

How do you feel now? Healthy? Energized?

How do you hold a conversation and run? I have a lot of work to do; this lady is out of shape and gets winded just by playing with Bo!

Last summer I ran with Bo every morning! Now that the weather is getting nice and the neighborhood is a little less "creepy" I think I will start to run with him again! My husband has us on his college wrestling workout plan and a clean and lean diet! Well te diet for me is starting Wednesday so that way I can do may 1st to June 1st. I am hoping this month of healthy discipline creates everlasting lifestyle changes.

My husband just signed up for a tough mudder in June! It is 12 miles of rough terrain, mud, electrical fences, and so much other stuff run! I am sitting that one out! I will go and support him!
Sorry not a clicky, but check it out!

Beca 2 of my coworkers just ran the tough mudder - one of them still won't stop talking about it, and they both want to run it again and recruit my husband!  I think he would have a blast with it, but would definitely need to train up a little bit.  I'd go and support him too - there's no way I'm doing those stunts!

  • Whoa! Your H is nuts! I can handle 12 miles, just not 12 miles of that craziness. You seem to approach everything else with such gusto, I'm sure you'll rock your H's fitness plan.

The race I did was Nike's Women's Half Marathon. They definitely catered to girlygirls, but I loved the atmosphere.

  • Oh, my knees are sore, but other than that, I'm good. I think 13.1 is my max distance though.

Funny story about talking and running. A few years ago I was passed during a race by a woman pushing a stroller, messing on her phone, and carrying on a conversation!
