Mother's Day- question and mini vent

I can't believe Mother's Day is only a couple weeks away!  Any exciting plans or traditions? 

SIL (DH's brother's wife) invited us to brunch at her house but I really don't want to go.  DH said we have to because she is reaching out to us and we barely see them.  I want to stay home and relax, not spend 3 hours in the car, especially 3 days after we get home from vacation.  I told DH I don't want to give up my mother's day for this and he said "Well they give up Easter."  We host Easter every year but they are more than welcome to make other plans (and if my memory serves me then some years they have).

It's my birthday weekend that weekend so we're doing family dinner on Friday, out with friends on Saturday and on Sunday we're going to ILs to have a BBQ.  I'm excited to relax and have fun that weekend.
