I just heard yesterday that Jenna Bush Hager named her baby Mila. Actually, the name is Margaret Laura, but Mila is what they call her, pronounced Mee-la.

Your sister is correct. I say Mee-Lah. Not like Lilah.

I get how you could be confused on this. In the name Miley you get the long i sound like "Mile" but in Mila you get more of a long e sound. Mila is a tranditional slavic name and is always pronounced Mee-lah, like Mila Kunis. If it were to rhyme with Lila, it would be Myla.

The correct pronunciation is /MEElah/.It is not pronounced like Lila /LIElah/. That would be Myla /MYlah/.
