How many diapers do I actually NEED ?

We are doing CD part time with DD (started at age 2).. I plan to CD this baby and have the recommended number of prefolds and covers for the newborn stage.  Once he fits in the BG4.0 I plan to switch to those and the few other random pockets and AIOs I have.  How many would you suggest I need?  I know it is easy to go overboard buying a large stash so I am trying to determine the correct number.  DD uses 5 a day now so that would be about 15 for a good stash, but I do remember her going through much more as a baby...

We have 20 and it's perfect.

You will need 24 diapers once in OS. Any less and you will run the risk of running our while they wash or dry.

We have about 20 and I wash almost every day. Sometimes I stretch it to every other day, but that doesn't leave much wiggle room for drying time.

I found that when OS first started fitting we were still going through a lot, but could use nb dipes for day to make the stash stretch. By the time they were outgrown we were down to 8-10 diapers a day. Right now I have 2 nighttime fitteds, and 20 pockets

I agree with 24. I wash EOD and sometimes get low but never run out.

I like having 3 night diapers.
