Crooked teeth?

Have your LO's teeth come in straight or crooked?

I'm reasoning with myself that until all the teeth come in, they won't straighten out (if they will) because with just a few teeth they have no way to really know where they should be.  But, I'm guessing that might be incorrect reasoning.

DD only has 4-6ish teeth right now.  There's a pretty decent gap between the top two, and the bottom two are pretty crooked.  I just wondered if these teeth will stay this way as the others come in, or if they will move around as the other teeth come in.  (I know they'll change a whole lot more in the several years to come, but I'm just curious about what these ones will do as she gets more.)

TIA

Re: Crooked teeth?

  • It's not unusual for the baby teeth to come in crooked and it does not mean their adult teeth will come in crooked if that occurs. Gaps between the teeth are important because the adult teeth need room when they come in and the space between baby teeth helps ensure that there will be enough room. At least this is what I have read on the subject, I am certainly no expert. DS has a tooth on the bottom that came in crooked. I'm not worried at all and it actually has straightened out quite a bit. DS will be 16 months Saturday and only has 6 teeth with at least 2 others coming in. Sounds like your LO's teeth are perfectly fine.

  • My daughter's top front teeth are alittle crooked. Her teeth seem to come in waves. She had 6 come in within a week. As the molars are coming in the front teeth have straightened out a bit. I wouldn't worry about it too much. When I was a little girl I had super straight teeth. When my adult teeth came in they were SUPER crooked.
  • My LO has a pretty big gap. I spoke to the dentist about it but they said they don't really worry until the adult teeth start to come in.

  • DS's two bottom teeth are crooked; they form a V bending inward with each other. I am unconcerned at this point, aside from knowing he'll probably need braces as a teen.

-My son was born in April 2012. He pretty much rules.
  • DD has 12 teeth and all the front 8 seem to be slightly crooked. I don't think it's too much to worry about until adult teeth start coming in though.
