First Post/rant, first pregnancy

So according to this tracker I am 8 wks! This is my first pregnancy and I am young..a little too young to have a baby I think. I finally got the courage to tell my mom the other day but the real challenge telling my dad. I am only 20 but I work and go to school and pretty much take care of myself..I had planned on moving out of my parents house when I transferred from a community college to a university this fall. Sad to say I will be completing another year at community college until I feel I am ready to leave home again. Just had to get that out..pweh lol

  • I'm only 22. My bf and I live at his parents house for now to save money but once the baby is a couple months old we will be moving into our own place.

& I told my mom and she was happy

haven't told my dad either lol </

  • No shame in living at home if you're doing it to get ahead. My DH and I lived with my parents so we could save and buy a house. In other cultures around the world living at home is the norm! Congrats on your pregnancy. How did your mother take it?
  • Save money, your young and this is best solution instead of trying to barely make ends meet with baby on the way. PLUS free babysitters! Two thumbs up there.

  • ...this post is very random. You're "basically" taking care of yourself means your parents are still taking care of you. Just awesome.
  • No actually their not. I said basically because I still live in their household! I do for myself, I am very independent and I've been that way since I was 16. I can handle my own!!!
  •  I had my daughter when I was 19.  Its a shock to everyone at first, but when everyone gets adjusted to the thought then they all get excited.  Having a baby is a wonderful gift-you should celebrate it :)

  • I'm pretty much in the same boat as you are except that I moved out of my parent's house about a month before the BFP.  I'm also 20 and work and go to a university (I will be doing part time starting this fall though).  It was so hard to te

  • While the timing is not ideal it is not the end of the world. Staying at home, as others have said, will saw you money, free baby sitters in the future, and it keeps you close to a good support system. As long as you do everything you can to support and c

  • Yes of course! But this isn't about him, it's about the mom to be and what I've been thinking about! Dad to be can't go to school or tell my parents for me
  • Thanks! That's very encouraging! Congrats on the new baby!!! I'm still going to be full time but I'm doing hybrid classes. I go to the doctor in a couple of wks, I'll let you know how it goes!
  • Thanks everyone for encouraging word and well wishes!!!

  • First of all congrats on your BFP!! It will be an adjustment but everyone will get used to it and it will be fine! Telling my dad when I got KU with DS was hard but at the end of the day he was happy for us. I think you are doing the smart thing tho..

  • So your parents do take care of you by providing you a place to live rent free. Not quite the same as paying your own rent and utilities. Just trying to clarify why people might not think you're as independent as you do.
