Many people keep telling me to watch out for the full moon tonight. I guess it's common for labor to begin because of it? I'm having problems finding truth to this. Just curious if anyone has any experience!?!
I googled this yesterday. There's lots about it - it's not confirmed by any means, and I'd probably consider it more of an Old Wives' Tale. But that said... here's hoping, right? (at least that's what I'm thinking!) Of course, someone also said, "She's ha
I've heard a lot about this from little old ladies who would come into my work. Apparently it's something about how the full moon effects the tides the same way it effects a woman's cycle so if your body is ready its possible. Our hospital says they are b
Ooo, cool! My Dr said she's inducing May 25 if LO isn't here by then, and the next full moon is May 24. Here's to hoping there's truth to the old wive's tale if he turns out to be a late baby
I just did a bit more poking about this... and found that for women who had their labor start with their water breaking, most had it happen during (or close to) a full moon. I know this could be a bunch of hooey... but who knows.
Yup, I'm due May 2nd and have claimed all along that tonight will be the night due to the moon. I have a friend who is a labor and delivery nurse who claims that stuff gets crazy on full moons nights!
My mom was an L&D nurse for 20 years and she absolutely believes in the full moon effect! She said more often than not, the delivery room would be packed on a full moon. Sometimes they didn't have enough beds and women would be laboring in the hall
I know that the schedulers at my OB's office always have "full moon" written on their calendar. That could be because it also tends to bring out the crazy.
They also say that low pressure causing women to go into labor is also an old wive

Worked for me this time...mobile bumping from the hospital bed! Didn't work for ds1 though...he was around for the monthly full moon, hurricane Irene, and the east coast earthquake back in 2011!

The birth center I'm going to had a crazy influx of women go into labor early this morning. (My appt was affected even!)
If it isn't true, it's a weird coincidence!
I think its fun to think about.
Ive seen weird stuff happen around full moons.
