moving up a shoe size

LO's shoes are getting pretty snug.  I just ordered the next size in the same brand and they arrived yesterday.  They seem so much bigger than the ones he's wearing now.  Although they do seem to fit securly around his foot there is a lot of room in the toe.  Is that ok?  I don't think his foot will slosh around in it but he isn't walking yet and I don't want to delay it with a too big shoe.

Their toes shouldn't be bumping up against the front of the shoe....I can't recall how much space is ideal but there definitely should be some wiggle room.

You could always measure LO's foot with the size chart for that brand. Most the big names

I thought it was a thumb width...but I could be worng.  I thought the same thing when I just moved LO up to the next size too, they seem big...but since he wasn't falling over like in clown shoes I figure he's fine.

I always feel the same way when moving DS up a size (and I mean 1/2 sizes).  But then before I know it, those "big" shoes are fitting tightly.

I've heard thumb width, which seems huge on a little foot.
