Please tell me it gets better!

I just found out I was pregnant about two and a half weeks ago. I have no clue how far I am, my appointment is tomorrow.

I recently started setting time aside for myself again to get back in shape. I had lost about 10 lbs and then got stuck. I was doing two a days at the gym and couldnt get the scale to move. Then I found out I was pregnant so it made sense why I wasnt losing weight. I currently weigh 166 and I am worried about putting on too much weight because I am technically overweight. I have big legs and a big butt where I carry my weight (I am a Puerto Rican soccer player so I have always been a little larger on the bottom). When I tell people my weight, they are shocked because I "dont look overweight at all." (Thank you!)

For the last week and a half, I have been sick as a dog and havent been to the gym for almost two weeks now. Please just tell me that this exhaustion and nausea goes away so I can get back to the gym.

Re: Please tell me it gets better!

  • It really just depends on the person and the pregnancy.  For me personally I was super sick the first tri.  I thru up multiple times a day and also had crazy indigestion and heartburn at the same time.  I took a nap every night after dinner and did so the entire pregnancy.  I also threw up every morning for 8 months.  but not everyone has a pregnancy like I did and some feel fabulous once they get into 2nd tri and beyond.  I hope it gets better for you and you get back in the gym.  you can at least try and walk once a day which is what I did in the evenings because i was too sick to get into a gym those 9 months.

  • i forced myself to go.  I always had to go in the morning since my sickness hit the worst in the afternoon, and even though i was exhausted, i made myself go just to keep up the facade of going so that when i did get better it wouldn't be a shock.

but it does get better! around 12-14 weeks it will definitely get better (I LOL as I write that time frame, since now with an LO whenever people tell me something like "at 6-8 weeks this is what happens" I get so frustrated because that's a 2 week difference! but in hindsight you realize its a short amount of time).

  • It gets better. However, when I was pregnant with DS, I made myself get out there even if I was tired, nauseous, etc.  Working out made me feel so much better and energized.  Trust me, it was hard dragging myself off the couch a lot of those times, but I felt better for it in the end.

Once you get past first tri, you should start to get some energy back once your hormones start leveling out a bit.

  • It get's better!! I was the same way my first trimester. I was very fit before I got pregnant. I completed Insanity and drank Shakeology and lost all the weight I needed and never felt more amazing in my life! Then a couple days after I found out I was pregnant, I lost my motivation, felt sick ALLLLL the time and had no energy to hardly go to work! I even got depressed and was not myself for a while. I was grumpy sad and hated life pretty much lol I did my best to workout when I could but it got down to maybe twice a week. I was thinking the same as you...is this how it's going to be the whole time? But as soon as I hit my second trimester I started feeling myself again. I started feeling up to working out again and had more motivation. But you are not alone! Just listen to your body and rest. You will get back your energy down the road! Until then, relax and try to enjoy that you are pregnant (I know it's hard to do that sometimes right now, but try your best) =)
  • It gets better...for most people. I had horrible morning sickness my entire pregnancy, but thankfully the exhaustion mostly went away in 2nd tri.
