Adoption

International vs domestic

Just starting to think about adoption but really have no clue about most of it. Can anyone give me the basics? Do most people try to go international over domestic or is that more of a preference decision? What are some things I need to know before really getting into this process? Thanks in advance!

  • Thank you ladies. I should read the FAQ. I think I am definitely interested in adopting a toddler and wouldn't mind going international. I will do some research and come back if/when I have more questions.

  • Yah, I think that you have to really consider your family planning and all the options out there.  There are certainly children who need homes everywhere--in the US and overseas.  Good luck with your planning!

My husband and I have had a long-time dream to adopt and it's happening in a way that we didn't quite anticipate. But, like any move of God, it's turning out way better than we expected. • I have to say, a big concern for us is the money. We can afford to raise another child but the cost of adoption seems extremely high and maybe impossible for us. I was under the impression it is higher here in the US, correct? I really am not opposed to d
