So for DS's first birthday we are doing a dr. seuss theme (duh by the subject of this post). Anyway I have most of the details worked out, but I don't knwo how to incorporate green eggs and ham into the menu.
I can make deviled eggs and dye the yolks green (but I am not a big fan of that idea--I am not a fan of yolks or mayo for that matter), but I am really stuck on the ham part. I don't eat ham...in fact I hate it, but I really like salami roll ups with cream cheese...I was thinking of making these and dying the cream cheese green...does that make sense?
Any other ideas? I have seen the pretzel with white chocolate and a green m&m, and that would be ok...but if there are other ideas I would love to hear them!
TIA!
The other food I have is:
Fruit--Tuffala tree fruit
pecan turtles--Yertle the turtle
Swedish fish/gold fish--one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish
Pink lemonade--pink ink yink drink
Roast beast sandwiches--grinch roast beast
Chex mix--Who hash
Veggies--I will lay it out to look like a hat--cat in the hat
With this list do I still feel like I should have green eggs and ham represented...
Re: Dr. Seuss Party question
Honestly? I would do the eggs because it's cuter and just don't eat it. You don't have to eat each thing at your party do you? Green eggs are the only thing that says Green Eggs!
Here is a recipe combining eggs and ham! https://www.food.com/recipe/parmesan-prosciutto-deviled-eggs-481775
I don't think you need to represent every Seuss book. If you hate ham, don't serve it!
That being said, you can always make egg salad as a side, and dice some ham into it.
I was going to say that I wouldn't eat green eggs but then I read the other posts and realized I was being lame. Go for it!
You might want to put the books out to remind folks...before DD I had forgotten all the characters but they quickly came back to me after I started re-reading the books from my childhood!
This is what I was thinking.
Or could you incorporate it into some kind of drink? I can't think of anything...Or maybe a vanilla ice cream dyed green, or mint chocolate chip ice cream? I think I'm going out on a limb here...
I was going to make mini ham and spinach quiches as the green egg and ham dish but skipped it. We had enough food already.
When I made the food labels, I put a small pic of the book in the corner. People got a kick out of it.
