Question for those who co-sleep

Hi ladies, Unfortunately I am unable to get my LO out of our bed and feel like I can't do any sleep training involving CIO (I just don't have it in me). The problem is that he falls asleep around 9:30 pm in the bed (he isn't tired before then and it takes him an hour to fall asleep most nights). My alarm goes off at 5:30 or 6:30 am and he is still sleeping. I can't leave him in the bed by himself while I get ready for work. I attempt to move him to his Pack N Play in the room to sleep, but he normally wakes right up. I then have to get back into bed with him, get him to fall asleep again and then go get DH from where he sleeps on the couch to sleep in bed with him while I get ready.  He will then sleep maybe one more hour. I don't like needing to wake up DH as he gets home late from work, but I don't see an alternative.

Just wondering how everyone else who bedshared dealt with this?  If a baby needs to sleep like 11 hours a night, what do you do when you need to get out of bed and get ready?  I'm assuming most people can't stay in bed 11 plus hours (wouldn't that be nice!). If I put him to bed earlier, it just means that I will have to be in bed even earlier myself. We also have a pillow top mattress and bed rails don't come high enough to be much use (plus he is very mobile and if he woke up he could stand up and topple over).

I'm considering doing some sleep training, but need a solution until then.  Thanks in advance!!!

  • Hi. We are dealing with something similar. We co-sleep with our daughter and she was also in a pack and play. We finally wanted to transition her to her crib. She will not go to sleep unless she falls alseep on one of us first. I have to wait until she

  • Our mattress is on the floor and we've baby proofed the bedroom. He has a crib mattress next to our mattress that we put him to sleep on with the wall on the other side of that. The farthest I've seen him get when he wakes is to the middle of our mattress
