BBT, OVULATION KITS WHILE TTC ALOT OF WORK.

HELLO

DH  and I have been together for 8yrs total, married for 3 this May. We are both ready for a little addition to our  family. I went to see my NP 4/23/13 she took a whole bunch of blood ( preconception blood work-up) check me out thoroughly. I just having fun with hubbie for now until i start to ovulate in May. I am nervous, anxious & excited all at the same time. I plan to ttc on day 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 & 18 of my next cycle. I read  a lot about charting BBT or buying ovulation kits, i feel this is a bit much and would cause an increase in anxiety. Can someone please tell me about there experiences and if you think it would be beneficial for me to do. btw i have a regular 28-30 day cycle.

  • in my experience, by month 3 I had more anxiety not knowing when/if I O'd and if we had timed things right.   I started charting BBT and was much more relaxed.

  • Read "taking Charge of your fertility" I don't know why I put off reading this for soo long, it really does provide a lot of good info both for TTA and TTC. I definitely recommend charting temps just to give you an overall picture of your cycle.

I thought I had normal periods for years and found out otherwise.

All the best and good luck!

  • Honey, if you think BBT and ovulation kits are stressful and lots of work, just wait until you have a baby!

     Good luck to you!

  • I just started charting my BBT. I thought it would be a pain to do but I have the Fertility Friend app on my phone and its been super easy so far! I think the worst part of it is just checking it at the same time every day. I wake up at 4:30am to go work out so it won't be fun to check on the weekends but I can usually fall back asleep. Good luck!!
  • I didn't start charting until our 2nd month TTC.  At first I thought we would do the old "let's just have fun and see what happens" thing, although I did check CM so that I could try to make sure that we had sex at the right time.  What I found out was that not knowing what was going on, drove me crazy.

I started charting and using OPKs the next month and I am so glad I did.  It gave me peace of mind that we were timing sex around my FW and it confirmed that I was ovulating and didn't have any LP issues, which were both important when I started IF testing after a year of TTC.  Some doctor's even recommend charting and/or OPKs for a few months before starting testing, just to make sure that you are having well timed sex.

  • Charting did cause a lot of stress for me. Did I sleep long enough?? An I a mouth breather? However, OPKs do help you out. Start using them day 10 until you get two dark solid lines, and it will give you a better idea when to BD.
