1st Trimester

First u/s scheduled- a few questions

I just scheduled my 1st u/s which will be done at 7 weeks and 1 day. I go back to see my OB at 8 weeks and she asked to have one done the week before the visit. Is the first u/s a normal one or is it transvaginal?

Did anyone's H come to the 1st u/s. Mine would like to, but if its transvaginal I am thinking that would be awkward. I forgot to ask on the phone when scheduling about this, and I was on hold for an hour to schedule,so I can call back, but I figured instead of being on hold for another hour Id ask her first :)

Thanks!
