Help! Baby has stopped napping!

So my son will be 6 months old on Friday and is teething.  He sleeps at night just fine, from about 9 pm to 8 am, and usually takes 2 naps a day, about an hour each.  But in the last week or so, he just won't nap anymore!  I put him in his crib at the regular time, shut the curtains and he'll be fine for 5 minutes and then start screaming.  I let it go for a couple of minutes, then go comfort him until he calms down, he's sleepy for 5 min, then he starts screaming again.  I've tried music, rocking him, letting him sleep on me...nothing.  Besides his night time sleep, he's probably napped for 45 minutes in the past week!  Any suggestions?

 I'm giving him drops for his teeth twice a day, so I don't think that's the problem, but who knows.  I just feel really unproductive!

It could be a number of things, but at about this age my LO was extending his awake time.  Do you put him down when he shows sleepy cues or are you just going by the time on the clock?  His "normal" rountine was awake @ 6:30 first nap at 8:30, n
