Parenting after a Loss

Infant's Motrin for Teething..

Talk to me about how frequently you give motrin..  DS has been teething like mad.. he has 3 fully in, and 3 or 4 working their way through -- his poor gums are so red and swollen and he's clearly so uncomfortable.. motrin definitely helps, but I feel guilty as we've been giving him motrin at least once a day for over a week now.. he's just so unhappy otherwise, but of course I have this internal conflict thinking I'm medicating him too much!  Those who use motrin -- have you gone through spurts where you're giving it on a daily basis for a period of time while teeth are breaking through??

  • If it helps, give it to him!  There were times that we gave DD Motrin on a daily basis for a week when she was really uncomfortable.  Motrin is the only thing that ever worked for her... Tylenol was a joke.

  • I had this conflict this morning too.  Granted - Pip is 16 mos - but still, when she's teething - I give her motrin. It makes her feel better - and yes, I give it to her more than once a day.  Over the last 3 weeks she's had 3 cuspids come

  • As long as there aren't any liver or kidney issues, you can give it according to the instructions on the bottle regarding frequency of dosing. You won't be giving him Motrin for 3 years straight, I promise.

  • Yes. DS cut all 4 molars and all 4 canines at the same time when he was 15 months old. He lived on ibuprofen for a few weeks. No ill effects, as far as I know!
