Alva baby inserts

So my loving husband got me some Alva baby microfiber/bamboo blend inserts. We currently use Kawaii P&Ns with one MF insert during the day, and a P&N with two Alva bamboo inserts at night. My plan was to use one blend during the day and a blend and one bamboo insert for at night, but we have a problem. As great as my husband has been about using CDs he doesn't have a clue about them, all he knows is how to put a prestuffed pocket on her and put the dirty one in the wet bag. So since he doesn't know anything about them he didn't notice that the inserts he purchased were the newborn blend inserts. These things are so tiny that I'm worried I wont be able to use them for anything, and we got 20 of them! *Sigh* 

 So here's the question, does anyone have any experience with these? Do they absorb much at all? Are they going to do anything for me?? If I currently can go 2-3 hours during the day with one Kawaii MF do you think I could use one of these instead? Is their absorption comparable or  considerably less. I also wonder about how narrow they are, I think that'd be nice for trimness since my lil girl is such a tiny peanut but I worry about them not being wide enough and her peeing around them? Any input would be great.

I chose the newborn size Alva blend inserts so they would fit in my Kawaii PNs. DD3 is only 3 1/2 weeks, but one insert works fine for us. I figured I will use them as a doubler eventually.

No advice but are you absolutely sure he ordered NB? I only ask cuz I just ordered alvas for the first time and was surprised that they're half the size of my flips!
