After a long narrowing-down process, we've got a pretty solid top 4. Which is your favorite of the bunch? What are your thoughts on these four names in general?
Evander (Greek = good man)
Emrys (Welsh = immortal one)(pronounced em-riss)
Jasper (Persian = bringer of treasure)
Amias (Latin = loved)(pronounced uh-my-us)
FYI- our other options that have floated around and we could still be convinced to use include: Lionel, Anselm, Hadriel, Caius, Sulien, Solon, Roland, Bolan, Conrad and Callum
Re: Top 4- Trying to narrow it down
Evander makes me think of Evander Holyfield. I don't think I could get past that name association.
I love Welch names (our daughter is Carys) so my vote is for Emrys! Love it!

Evander doesn't sound right in my head (can't pinpoint what it is) and Emrys sounds like a female name to me, so I'd go with Amias... maybe because it sounds similar to Matthias, which I like.
Can I just say that I love your name choices? Rare, but not made up.
Here is how I would rank them.
Emrys (LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.)
Jasper
Evander
Amias
Of your list, I'd go with Emrys in a heartbeat.

Don't put too much stock into the supposed meaning of the name. Most names have been around much longer than the meaning of them has been, and many meanings are not right because they assume the names came from certain words even though many of them di
1st place -- Emrys -- I have always loved this name
2nd place -- Jasper -- has little boy cuteness, but ages well, family name for me
3rd place -- Evander -- so close to Alexander but just a little "off." Just don't love it.
4th place
I really love Emrys! Such a great name. I like Amias a lot too.

I love, love, love Emrys. A total guilty pleasure for me. The literature nerd in me would like to point out that it's the wizard Merlin's birth name in some versions of Arthurian legend--for me that's a plus, don't know about you. It sounds beautiful,
I like your list. I don't think any of them are too far out there.
My favorite is Emrys.
ETA: I also put quite a bit of stock into the meaning of the name. It may not matter to the rest of the world but it does to me. Oh, and I also li
Of those four, I like Evander best, then Jasper. I also really like Anselm.
I majored in classics, and though my Latin is rusty, I'm skeptical about the origin of Amias. Loved/beloved in Latin would be Amatus. I can't make sense
Love Evan but not Evander.
I like Emrys for a girl even though it's a male name.
I do like jasper.
Not a fan of the other.
