Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I hate the word "no"--little vent!

It has become a major front runner in my vocabulary with DS lately. Now that he can move he is into EVERYTHING! I try so hard to say other things like that isn't for babies, or that will hurt you, or be nice--when he is petting the cat, or something to that affect, but it is sooooooooo hard not to just say "no" ALL the time!

I keep reading different things, like how you should say it once firmly, well half the time I scare him when I do that--since he is entranced in whatever it was the he was doing and then he cries, and as cute as his pouty face is, I don't want my LO wot cry or be scared, I just want him to stop.

DS is super active--doesn't stop between getting up and going to sleep (naptime or bedtime). It is exhausting. I just want to stop having to say no all the time--ok that feels better, vent over!

Thanks for letting me get that out!

  • I feel you! DS just started crawling really well over the past couple of weeks. At first it was cute and he wasn't getting into much. Then he somehow seemed to find every finger-pinching cabinet and off-limits piece of AV equipment that ever inhabited our

  • I say "no" a *lot* but I also find "gentle" works in lots of situations as an alternative (easier to say and understand that "be nice" or "be careful" and also it shows him what TO do instead of always what NOT to do).  In situations such a
