H had her 18 month appointment last Monday and it was full of bad news.
Her ear infection was still festering away after 10 days of antibiotics. This is her 3rd ear infection in the last 4 months so we have an consultation with an ENT doctor to get evaluated for tubes. Her iron levels were still low so we had to get a full on blood draw last week at the hospital. And, she still isn't saying any words so the doctor wants her to be evaluated for speech therapy this week.
I seriously felt like the worst mother in the world and have now convinced myself that it is my fault that she has to go through all of these tests/evaluations now. Irrational, yes, but I can't help it.
Re: Ugh, 18 month appt.
I'm sorry you are going through this. Please don't blame yourself though. None of this is your fault and the fact that you care so deeply proves what an awesome mom you are.
Lots of kids have to get tubes, it's not your fault her iron is lo
1 Ear infections happen and some children are prone them.
2 as a mother of a speech delayed child, the fact that you are concerned shows how great of a parent you are

Sorry you're feeling down and out. We had my DS evaluated as well when he was little, because he wasn't talking much either. We did a little bit of speech therapy but then ended up moving and decided to put it off a couple months
You are a wonderful parent and none of these issues are your fault. You're being proactive and addressing issues early. That's the best thing you can do for your daughter right now! I hope
