What's the difference between the two? I've read online and the swaddle blankets are usually larger than a receiving blanket so would ultimately last longer as the baby grows. Is that it? TIA!
Receiving blankets are the small flannel ones. Not sure what they are good for. Swaddling blankets have many uses. The A+A ones are lightweight and are good for nursing under, can be doubled when it is cold and serve as a burl cloth in a pitch.

Swaddling blankets are big enough to get a tight swaddle. My experience with receiving blankets are that they are not good for much. They are not big enough for a proper swaddle, which is one of the main reasons for having blankets for baby. &
I've never been able to swaddle successfully in a receiving blanket. They're just way too small, and I generally have big, long babies. Swaddle blankets are pretty fool proof.

We had both. We mostly used the smaller receiving blankets as on the go changing pads. I found them useless to swaddle with. Oh, we sometimes used them in the car seat though, to kinda tuck him arms down in a "swaddle", but they weren't
