Physically Strenuous Job Questions

I'm a gymnastics coach and am really at a loss to know what is going to be safe or unsafe for me at work. In a day I can be standing for 3-4 hours, spotting a child on a high speed skill, or pulling huge mats around the gym. 

Any other coaches out there with bumps? Or maybe people who just know what kind of weight limits exist for lifting during pregnancy....

  • I think this is something you need to ask your doctor about. The only thing that sticks out with me is the spotting, in case a child runs into you in an aborted attempt at a skill.

  • I think that doing anything above and beyond what you are normally used to is out.  According to What to Expect When You are Expecting, exercise is good for the baby. To put your mind at ease, I would definitely ask your physician.
  • Standing 4 hours a day is hardly "a physically strenuous job".  I think you could safely spot when you're further along, but you also might want to step out of that bit when you hit 6-7 months.

  • I have already talked to my docotor and I feel you should really talk to yours because your situation is unique. As for what the other posts say I agree you dont want to stop all physical activity because physical activity is good for you and the baby. I
