Need a new carseat--infant or convertible?

So, my lovely cats peed on dd's nice Chicco Keyfit carseat. For the life of me, I can't get the smell out and feel terrible putting her in it. Should I get another infant seat or find a convertible she can use too? She is about 13lbs and 24in long. Thanks!

With a tiny LO like that I would go your another infant seat. If your Lo is not sitting well unassisted a convertible seat is a PITA. If they fall asleep on the car they wake up when you reach your destination and then you have tho try to keep hold of

  • I'd probably go with a convertible and use my moby or k'tan when we go anywhere.

  • Oh no!

I would definitely go with a convertible.  She should be fine size-wise and the benefits of a infant seat (i.e. being able to carry them around) wane quickly because those seats get SO heavy after just a few months.  Plus, you'l

  • Are you planning on more kids?  If so, I would get another infant seat.  I kept #2 in hers until she was 13 months old (she was small, though, only about 20lbs and we just had a graco snugride 22).  It was easier getting her in the car seat

I would just contact Chicco about getting a new cover. That has to be cheaper than replacing the seat. Or ask t

  • Have you tried spraying the seat with vinegar a few times? When my parents bought their house the floors down to the base layer were ruined with animal urine. We did multiple soakings of vinegar until the smell was finally gone.

  • I would definitely get a convertible. We switched DS over when he was 8 months because he was sitting well and I was tired of carrying the infant seat around. DD is 5 months and if that happened to me i would just move up to the convertible. Also, can you

  • Replace the cover if you can, otherwise I'd go convertible. LO is 12.5lbs and 23" and I almost never take the seat out of the car because its too heavy. DH still uses it, but as soon as it warms up her convertible is getting installed. She usually settles

  • I would get a convertible. We needed to get another car seat for DH's truck and I almost bought another infant car seat, but we decided to go with the convertible and boy am I glad we did! DS absolutely loves it, he can see a little better out the wind

We've used a convertible seat since the beginning -I have a Graco Size4Me and really, really like it.  When we're out of the car I either carry my girl in a wrap or push her in the stroller.
