Natural Birth

Anybody tried natural shampoo?

I know this board is for natural birth... And so I thought you all might have some insight on this. I'm expecting my 2nd and due on sept 9th. First baby was with dpi and in hospital... This time I'm goi to a birthing center. I want to do this naturally but I need as much encouragement as possible!

.... Anyway.... I am also trying to get back to using basic products with natural ingredients in what I eat and use on my body and cleaning products too... Totally a process! I purchased some lavender shampoo made from essential oils at a local farmers market. It makes my hair totally oily! Will this go away? Or will it just not work for me? Anyone have any other products they recommend? tIA!

  • I am a big user of Lush products. They make soap, shampoo, deodorant, perfume etc.  They believe in using organic ingredients, ethical buying and using little to no packaging to avoid waste.  I love the Daddy-O shampoo and the honey soap.&nbs

  • I use JR Liggetts shampoo bar, it doesn't make my hair oily (though it might depend on your hair type?). I used Burt's Bees shampoo forever, but it kinda leaves a residue in my hair if I use it too much.

  • Sulfite free shampoo makes my hair super greasy too. I've tried multiple brands, but I guess my hair just needs the sulfites I could rock the grease, I guess, but i'd rather take the chemicals!

  • You have to also look at anything else you put in your hair. Most products like gels, cremes, hairsprays have silicones in there. Silicone requires sulfates to clean it off your hair as they are not water soluable. If you change to natural sulfate free

  • I make my own shampoo, equal parts Dr. Bronner's & water (I use 1 c. of each) & 1 TBSP olive oil.  I mix it all in a spray bottle and wash my hair with that daily.  It also doubles as a face/body wash in our house.

  • Going the sulfate free route, I have been using Treseme Naturals. I love it, but then again, I really really like only paying 4 bucks for 20 oz of shampoo. I agree with PPs, it doesn't strip heavy silicone based products, but the ones I use don't use sili
